PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and simply quantify the amount of silicon in a metal material including a silicon component, such as a silicon compound hardly dissolved into mineral acid.;SOLUTION: The method for quantifying the amount of silicon in a metal material comprises: an addition step of adding a metal material to a treatment solution including a boron containing hydrofluoric acid derivative and a mineral acid; a dissolution step of dissolving the metal component of the metal material and dissolving a silicon component by fluoride ions separated from the boron containing hydrofluoric acid derivative by heating the treatment solution; a preparation step of cooling the treatment solution obtained in the dissolution step to prepare a sample solution; and an analysis step of analyzing the sample solution.
