PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining an intra prediction mode related to a video encoding unit and an apparatus thereof, and a method for determining an intra prediction mode related to a video decoding unit and an apparatus thereof.SOLUTION: A method for determining an intra prediction mode of a video encoding unit includes: determining a candidate intra prediction mode of an encoding unit of a color difference component including an intra prediction mode of an encoding unit of a luminance component; comparing costs of the encoding unit of the color difference component by the determined candidate intra prediction mode; and determining an intra prediction mode of the encoding unit of the color difference component having the minimum cost.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 23
