PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for determining an intra prediction mode related to a video coding unit and a video decoding unit.SOLUTION: A method for determining an intra prediction mode related to a video decoding unit, includes: a step 2410 of extracting from a coded bit stream a maximum coding unit that is a coding unit having the maximum size and depth information that is hierarchical division information of the maximum coding unit; a step 2420 of dividing a luminance component and a color difference component of a to-be-decoded current picture into decoding units on the basis of the extracted maximum coding unit and the depth; a step 2430 of extracting from the bit stream, intra prediction mode information applied to the divided decoding units of the luminance component and color difference component; and a step 2440 of performing intra prediction related to the decoding units of the luminance component and color difference component by the extracted intra prediction mode, and decoding the decoding units.
