PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a degree of harmfulness without separation conversion of a specific nuclide and any facility specialized for nuclide conversion.SOLUTION: A method of reducing a degree of harmfulness of a spent fuel includes: Step S01 of drawing out a spent uranium fuel after burnt in a light water nuclear reactor; Step S02 of deriving a reduction condition of the degree of harmfulness relating to this spent uranium fuel; determination Step S03 of determining whether or not the reduction condition is satisfied; Step S04 of, and it is determined that the reduction condition is satisfied, reprocessing the spent uranium fuel, and recovering uranium, plutonium, and MA; Step S05 of manufacturing a MOX fuel from a nuclear fuel material and MA recovered at the reprocessing step and the nuclear fuel material to be newly added; and Step S06 of drawing out the spent MOX fuel after burnt in a light water reactor. After the determination step, steps up to the step of burning the MOX fuel are repeated.
