System and method for normalizing chemical sensor data based on changes in fluid state

Embodiments herein include implantable medical systems, devices, and methods that include chemical sensors. In an embodiment, an implantable medical device system includes a chemical sensor; a posture sensor; an activity sensor; and / or a fluid condition sensor such as a respiratory sensor. The implantable medical device system may further include a normalization circuit that receives data from the chemical sensor and the fluid condition sensor and normalizes the chemical sensor data based on the data from the fluid condition sensor. In an embodiment, a method of operating an implantable medical device system is included. The method includes measuring a chemical analyte amount using a chemical sensor, measuring a patient's fluid status using a fluid state sensor, and using a normalization circuit from the fluid state sensor. Normalizing the measured amount of the chemical analyte as indicated by the chemical sensor based on the data. Other embodiments are also included in this document.
