Method of reinforcing existing bridge piers, method of manufacturing reinforced piers, polymer cement mortar, and reinforced piers

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable bridge pier reinforcement while securing sufficient strength and durability, at low cost and through a simple process.SOLUTION: A reinforcement method for an existing reinforced concrete bridge pier includes: a first step in which a reinforcing bar is arranged around an existing bridge pier; a second step following the first step in which the existing bridge pier and the reinforcing bar are covered by polymer cement mortar made by mixing a polymer cement composition with water, the polymer cement composition including cement, a fine aggregate, a fluidizing agent, and a re-emulsified powdery resin; and a third step following the second step in which the polymer cement mortar is cured to make a cured mortar body. The polymer cement composition contains the fine aggregate of 80 to 130 parts by mass and the re-emulsified powdery resin of 0.2 to 2.6 parts by mass blended in the cement of 100 parts by mass. Compression strength of the cured mortar body at the age of 28 days, measured as provided in the JIS A 1108, is 75 N/mmor more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
