PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a bioelectrochemistry system superior to a conventional bioelectrochemistry system having a carbon electrode as an anode in processing speed for a whole device; and an electrode used for the bioelectrochemistry system.SOLUTION: A bioelectrochemistry system comprises: a container; a liquid containing an organic material and an electron donor microorganism, and stored in the container; an anode disposed so as to touch the liquid; and a cathode disposed so as to touch the liquid and adjoin the liquid through a cation-permeable diaphragm. The anode includes one or more electrode materials selected from a group consisting of molybdenum, molybdenum oxide, tin, tin oxide and nickel oxide. The total percentage of the superficial area of the one or more electrode materials in the surface of the anode is within a range of 0.001-100% by area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
