PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring method in a monitoring camera system capable of reducing transfer capacity to a video recording server, without lowering the transfer frame number to the video recording server, and the resolution.SOLUTION: A monitoring method in a monitoring camera system includes the steps of: generating a first difference image, i.e., the difference image of a first whole image and a second whole image, having a mask area where the first and second whole images are not different, on the basis of the first whole image and the second whole image acquired continuously thereto; and generating a second difference image, i.e., the difference image of the first difference image from the second whole image, where the part of the first difference image other than the mask area of the first difference image is a corresponding part of the second whole image, and transparent color information is set for the mask area of the first difference image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
