PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherocrystal growth rate retardant for polyethylene capable of adding high barrier property and transparency by blending it with the polyethylene and making a spherocrystal growth rate of the polyethylene slow to obtain the polyethylene having small spherocrystal size.SOLUTION: There is provided a spherocrystal growth rate retardant for polyethylene, which is an ethylenic polymer having density (kg/m) of 910 to 960, melt flow rate (g/10 min.) of 0.01 to 100, showing 2 peaks in a molecular weight measurement by a gel permeation chromatography, having a ratio (Mw/Mn) of a weight average molecular weight (Mw) to a number average molecular weight (Mn) in a range of 2.0 to 7.0, having a percentage of a component having Mn of 100,000 or more during molecular weight separation of less than 40% in the whole polymer, and having a long chain branch of 0.15 or more per 1,000 carbon atoms in a main chain in a fraction of Mn of 100,000 or more during the molecular weight separation.
