The present invention addresses the problem of significantly reducing a data amount used for designing a light environment, such reduction made from a data amount of building information modeling (BIM) data, and the problem of lessening a processing burden in a case where a light environment is simulated. This light environment design assistance device (10) is provided with an acquisition unit (13), a first processing unit (11), and a second processing unit (12). The acquisition unit (13) acquires BIM data which includes data related to the three-dimensional shape, disposition, and specifications of members that constitute a building. The first processing unit (11) extracts, from among the members that constitute the BIM data, those members that affect the light environment of the building. The second processing unit (12) uses characteristic data which is of the members extracted by the first processing unit (11) and which is associated with the light environment to determine characteristic data related to lighting equipment, in order to satisfy prescribed conditions required for the light environment of the building.
