PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing siloxane-modified chitosan capable of producing siloxane-modified chitosan suitable as an emulsifier capable of preparing emulsion such as a cosmetic excellent in emulsion stability, with good reaction efficiency.;SOLUTION: A method for producing siloxane-modified chitosan includes a step of reacting powdery chitosan which has a weight average molecular weight of 2,000-200,000 and a degree of deacetylation of 70-100%, and has a grain size to pass a sieve with 16 mesh with a siloxane compound represented by general formula (1): R2-Si(R1)a{[(OSi(R1)2)]b-R1}c to obtain a siloxane modified chitosan in which a substituent derived from a siloxane compound is introduced into chitosan, where an introduction ratio of the substituent in the siloxane-modified chitosan is 0.01-0.4 mol per 1 mol of a pyranose ring constituting the chitosan.;SELECTED DRAWING: None;COPYRIGHT: (C)2018,JPO&INPIT
