PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heart rate meter capable of calculating a heart rate by simple processing compared with that of the conventional one, regardless of a placement direction of the heart rate meter to the breast.SOLUTION: The heart rate meter includes: a heart rate sensor acquiring an electrocardiographic waveform of a user when being placed on the breast of a user; and a control part for calculating the heart rate on the basis of the electrocardiographic waveform and reversing the acquired electrocardiographic waveform. The electrocardiographic waveform acquired by the heart rate sensor includes any one of a first-mode electrocardiographic waveform including an R wave having a peak at a high voltage side, and a second-mode electrocardiographic waveform having the R wave having a peak at a low voltage side. The heart rate meter calculates the heart rate when the electrocardiographic waveform includes the first-mode electrocardiographic waveform, when the heart rate is not calculated, reverses the electrocardiographic waveform acquired by the heart rate sensor, and calculates the heart rate in regard to the reversed electrocardiographic waveform.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
