PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a marker adaptable to many different types of cancer or a prognosis of cancer and/or a marker capable of evaluating therapeutic sensitivity, and a method for determining prognosis of cancer and/or therapeutic sensitivity by using such a marker.SOLUTION: A method for determining the effectiveness of a given anti-cancer drug against cancer affecting a subject comprises a step of measuring the expression level of nucleolus stress response controlling protein or of genes coding such protein in a subject-derived sample and, if the expression level of the protein or genes is high in comparison with its reference value, a step of determining that the anti-cancer drug tested is highly effective against cancer, or a method may be intended for determining the prognosis of cancer after chemical treatment of the subject.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
