POLARIZATION IMAGE SENSOR AND POLARIZATION IMAGE SENSOR FABRICATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization image sensor, and a polarization image sensor fabrication method that enable a near-infrared ray to detect polarization information on light carrying information on a measurement object without reducing an amount of light of visible light.;SOLUTION: A polarization image sensor has: a sensor array that has solid state image pick-up elements two-dimensionally arrayed; a reflection type polarization plate that reflects polarized light of the near-infrared ray and transmits light other than the polarized light thereof; and a pattern phase difference plate that is divided into a plurality of areas corresponding to one or more solid state image pick-up elements in the same in-plane, and has two or more kinds of areas mutually different in a direction of a slow axis.
