A method for suppressing a pyrophoric metal fire can include disposing a suppression system over a containment structure. The suppression system includes a first fire extinguisher. The containment structure is configured to contain and isolate pyrophoric metals from ambient air. The suppression system is configured to act to release the first extinguishing agent upon leakage and ignition of the pyrophoric metal and to suppress the pyrophoric metal fire. [Selection] Figure 1
