PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract a plurality of branch points from a set of symbol strings.SOLUTION: A label string generation device inputs a set of symbol strings T={Y,...,Y},Y=y...y, and generates a set of label strings L={X,...,X},X=x...x corresponding to the set of the symbol strings T so that Score(T,L)=Πp(x)p(y|x)Πp(x|x)p(y|x) representing adaptation to a hidden Markov model becomes the largest, where p(x) is such probability that the top label is x, p(y|x) is such probability that when the t-th label is x, the symbol is y, and p(x|x) is such probability that when the t-1 th label is x, the t-th label is x.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
