Techniques relating to configuration of assays are disclosed. Assay devices are often used to characterize test specimens using, for example, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) or deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) fusion methods. Various disclosed techniques allow for detailed specification of verification parameters. This allows the user to modify the test and / or develop a test by a third party. In embodiments where a separate device is used to identify the calibration parameters, these techniques may reduce verification requirements due to calibration by modification. In some embodiments, the add / remove / modify assay configuration information may include an action sequence, parameters to the action sequence, data processing parameters, call logic rules / dependencies, and / or reporting rules.
