PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic patient care system, method, and device in a hospital.SOLUTION: An electronic patient care system 100 includes a hub. The hub is configured to monitor a patient care device. A sandbox is configured to control access to at least one of a hardware resource and a software resource. The hub is configured to execute an application for identifying a patient care device, and for monitoring the patient care device. The hub is configured to execute the application in the sandbox component such that the application performs access via the sandbox component to at least one of the hardware resource and the software resource.
