Issuing short-term digital certificates based on verification of long-term digital certificates

The certification authority service receives a request from the entity to issue a long-term digital certificate for verification purposes between the entity and the service. Upon issuing a long-term digital certificate, the entity presents a request to the service to issue a short-term digital certificate that includes a validity period shorter than the long-term digital certificate. The service verifies the entity using the long-term digital certificate, and when the entity is verified, the service can issue the short-term digital certificate to the entity. The entity can then utilize the short-term digital certificate so that the user client can authenticate the entity and securely communicate with the entity.
