PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode for a sodium molten salt battery, excellent in cycle characteristics and rate characteristics and also high in capacity.SOLUTION: A positive electrode for a sodium molten salt battery includes a positive electrode active material reversibly absorbing and desorbing sodium ions. The positive electrode active material includes a transition metal compound having a layered O3 type crystal structure, and also includes Cr, an element Mand an element M. The element Mis at least one element selected from the group consisting of Co and Ni, and the element Mis at least one element selected from the group consisting of Fe and Mn. The atomic ratio of the element Mwith respect to Cr is 0.2-2, and the atomic ratio of the element Mwith respect to Cr is 0.2-2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
