PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply mortar efficiently and evenly on a surface of a shaped refractory material with a dowel, which is used in a coke oven or the like.SOLUTION: In a mortar application method for discharging mortar from a slit-like discharge port provided at a tip of a nozzle, and applying the mortar to an applied surface of a shaped refractory material with a dowel, the difference between a width of the applied surface and a width of the discharge port is equal to or less than 20 mm, the discharge port has at least one of concave and convex curve parts, and mortar is discharged from the discharge port in a state of fitting the curved part into the dowel.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
