PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluation device for produce and an evaluation method for produce, which exhibit extremely improved accuracy in measurement and evaluation and contribute to accurate measurement and evaluation even when the produce is bulb vegetables such as onion and shallot or some citrus fruits conveyed in various postures.SOLUTION: The evaluation device for produce is configured to irradiate produce conveyed on a conveyance line with measurement light from a light source, to receive transmitted light transmitted through the produce by a light-receiving unit, and to evaluate internal qualities of the produce. The light-receiving unit is positioned oblique to the optical axis of the measurement light in an incident direction from the light source.
