PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ionic liquid useful as an active material for a redox flow battery, provide an electrolyte for a redox flow secondary battery and a redox flow secondary battery using the ionic liquid, and provide a salt for producing the ionic liquid.SOLUTION: The ionic liquid comprises at least one of an anion represented by the formula (1) and an anion represented by the formula (2), and a cation. In the formula (1), n is 2, 4 or 6, and in the formula (2), m is 2, 4, 6 or 8.SELECTED DRAWING: None
