PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique by which an appropriate in-process inventory quantity between production steps can be calculated, in a production process of products which are produced through a plurality of production steps.SOLUTION: An in-process inventory quantity calculation device calculates an appropriate inventory quantity between production steps by: storing achievement information including start time and finish time of a process in each of a preceding step and a following step, for each of a plurality of products produced through a plurality of production steps; obtaining a time inevitably occurring between the preceding step and the following step, from the achievement information; calculating a pipeline inventory quantity on the basis of the obtained time; obtaining an execution sequence in the preceding step and an execution sequence of the following step, for each of the plurality of products; calculating a sequence switch absorbing in-process inventory quantity on the basis of the obtained execution sequences; obtaining production for each unit time for the preceding step and the following step; and calculating a production variance absorbing in-process inventory quantity between the production steps on the basis of the obtained production variance.
