PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find out anthocyanin capable of preventing or treating diabetes or rise in blood sugar level better than cyanidin or C3G, and provide therapeutic agent or preventive agent, and food composition which contain the found out anthocyanin.;SOLUTION: There is provided preventive agent or therapeutic agent of diabetes or rise in blood sugar level containing one or more types of compound selected from the group consisting of cyanidin-3,5-diglucoside and salt thereof. Alternatively, there is provided food composition containing the compound for preventing or treating diabetes or rise in blood sugar level. The cyanidin-3,5-diglucoside is one type of anthocyanin, and shows stronger DPP-IV inhibitory activity than cyanidin or C3G. As this agent or this food composition is ingested, diabetes or rise in blood sugar level can be effectively prevented or treated while induction of hypoglycemia is avoided because the activity of DPP-IV which exists in a small intestine is easily suppressed.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7;COPYRIGHT: (C)2018,JPO&INPIT
