A process for the recovery of a metal from an ore by using a collecting composition is described herein. The process includes contacting the ore with the collecting composition. The collecting composition may include sulfur-containing compounds comprising (i) mercaptans comprising branched C₁₀ mercaptans compounds selected from the group consisting of 5-methyl-1-mercapto-nonane, 3-propyl-1-mercapto-heptane, 4- ethyl-1-mercapto-octane, 2-butyl-1-mercapto-hexane, 5-methyl-2-mercapto-nonane, 3-propyl-2-mercapto-heptane, 4-ethyl-2-mercapto-octane, 5- methyl-5-mercapto-nonano and combinations thereof;Y (II) sulphide, including c83228320 in the form of r1-s-r2,In this case, R 1 and R 2 are a functional group separated from a grease, wherein the grease includes 5-methyl-1-noneno, 3-propil-1-heteno, 4-ethyl-1-octabromo, 2-butyl-1-hexeno or a combination thereof.
