The present invention relates to a composite sheet comprising a first sheet and a second sheet. the first and second sheets are attached to each other at several spaced apart interleaf binding sites. The first sheet is a nonwoven material having isolated three-dimensional deformations therein that form outwardly extending protrusions from the first surface of the first sheet to its distal ends and wide base openings to the second surface of the first sheet. The second sheet is a generally flat sheet that contacts the distal ends of the protuberances on the first sheet. the second sheet is bonded to the first sheet at spaced interleave bonding locations, wherein the distal ends of the protuberances on the first sheet contact the second sheet.
