the hinged lid container comprises a releasable consumer goods package, wherein the package has an opening through which the consumer goods may be removed; and wherein a self-adhesive releasable label covers the opening of the package and extends beyond the periphery of the package opening. the adhesive comprises a first and a second layer of labeling web material. the first layer is affixed to the package by a first adhesive provided on the inner surface of the first layer extending over at least a sealing portion of the package at the periphery of the opening. The first layer comprises a cutout aligned with the opening of the package. the second layer is affixed at least partially releasably to the first layer by a second adhesive provided on a first area of the inner surface of the second layer extending over at least the lower periphery of the first layer indentation. the second adhesive is a removable adhesive and a peel strength to peel off the first layer of the package is greater than a peel strength to peel off the second layer of the first layer. The second layer of the self-adhesive releasable label is permanently affixed to the inner surface of the lid.
