A non-axially symmetrical nozzle for a liquid-cooled plasmal arc burner is provided. The nozzle includes a proximal part including an inner surface defining a nozzle exit opening and an outer surface defining a flow area. The nozzle also includes a central portion including an outer surface defining at least a portion of the flow chamber which is in fluid communication with the flow region. The nozzle further comprises a distal portion adapted to be connected to a plasma arc spot burner tip. The distal portion includes an annular flange disposed about the nozzle and a plurality of flow chicanes constructed on the annular flange and not axially symmetrical about the distal portion. The plurality of flow chicanes is arranged to (i) divide a liquid flow into a plurality of liquid jets, and (ii) throttle the liquid jets through the flow chamber toward the flow area.
