摘要

The present invention relates to copper tannate based marine antifouling, anti corrosive coatings comprising, one primer coat, two under coats and one top coat resulting in three different four coat formulations with copper tannate biocide in the range of 2.48 - 2.53 weight% of biocide - copper tannate and booster biocide of Trihexyltetradecylphosphonium chloride in the range of 0.414 - 0.483 weight%, which are pro-environmental and has excellent inhibitory effect on the attachment of marine fouling organisms on the surface. Laboratory studies reveal that the leaching rate of Cu+2 has been in the range of 25 - 28 µg/cm2/day, which is very well within the permissible limit prescribed by ISO Test System and the permissible toxicity levels of fish (10-10,200 pg/ml of Cu+2). Field study reveals that the four coat copper tannate based marine antifouling coating formulations - 1, 2 & 3 possess both the anticorrosive and antifouling properties. The release of biocides from the coating matrix prevents the attachment of fouling organisms and not harmful to either the marine fouling organisms or the marine habitats (fish).
