The present disclosure provides a method of treatment of subabul shoots for improved rooting features, which is superior over known methods in that the instant method reduces nursery time, improves rooting percentage, and root architecture. The present disclosure provides a method of treatment of subabul shoots, said method comprising: obtaining mother plants of subabul and pruning all vertical stems except main stem to facilitate emergence of lateral shoots; selecting and cutting lateral shoots with apical bud, which are at an angle of about 35-60° from the main stem and of about 25-30cm length; planting said lateral shoots from step (b) in a rooting medium; and obtaining plantlets from step (c) which have roots all around the stem emerging from at least 2 cms length from the base of the shoot.
