A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF REINFORCED CLAY BRICKS AND ITS APPLICATIONS ABSTRACT A brick is a building material which is composed of clay bearing soil, sand and lime. Usually bricks have good compressive strength to bear the gravity loads acting on them but their tensile strength is 90% less than their compressive strength. So in this project the normal bricks are made to reinforce by 5mm diameter rod and thereby increasing their tensile strength. And all their mechanical properties like Compression Strength, One Point Bending, and Flexure Strength have been tested after reinforcing and the data are tabulated and compared with the normal brick. And it is found that each and every strength are increased by 40-50% than normal bricks. With that application, advantage and disadvantage of reinforced bricks are listed. Key words: Reinforced Bricks, High strengthening bricks, Compressive strength, Stability.
