ANAEROBIC BI-PHASED BAFFLED REACTOR FOR BIOGAS GENERATION

Abstract The invention relates to an anaerobic bi-phased baffled reactor system for generating bio-gas from organic waste and improving the digestion process of hydrolysis, acetogenesis, and acidogenesis by slowly allowing the organic waste in the first segment. The reactor system comprises of a cylindrical chamber divided into first and second segment by means of a separating member. The first segment having more than one horizontally extended baffle plates configured to form a multiple bend shaped travel path, which creates turbulence, increase contact time with microorganisms and extend retaining time of hydrolysis, acetogenesis, and acidogenesis digestion process thereby obtaining favourable digested level of organic waste, diversion conduit provided with the separating member configured to allow the favourable level of digested organic wastes from the first segment to the bottom side of second segment which consists of sludge bed with high level of acetogens and methanogens which converts digested waste into biogas.
