ABSTRACT Devices and methods to recycle fluid streams in micro-channels and for lab on chip applications is disclosed. It exploits the use of an additional body force from the electric field to drive the flow in a channel in lab-on-chip in a particular direction. It is of immediate relevance to handle aqueous solutions of electrolytes. The flow reversal occurs when the electric field is greater than a critical value. This is of relevance to developing lab on chip devices where in recycle of expensive analytes or reactants is important. Most Illustrative Diagram: Figure 2
