An intelligent DC system to drive home loads (80), without power conversion from DC/AC, thereby reducing cost and losses is disclosed. Load voltage is regulated such that the power balance takes place with controlled charging current characteristics in the battery thereby improving battery life. The system comprises PV panel (10) connected to PV Power Manager (20) that is controlled by PV power controller (40). The output terminals of PV power manager (20) are configured to a low voltage DC bus (90) to which a battery bank (50) is connected. A load power manager (30) is connected to output terminals of the PV power manager (20) and controlled by a load power plus charging regulator control (60). The load power plus charging regulator control (60) regulates power extracted from PV panel (10) such that when SoC of battery reaches its limits, PV panel (10) is de-rated to avoid overcharging.
