摘要

Now a days detection of faulty wireless sensor node becomes very much essential in WSNs as thousands of portable tiny nodes are deployed for accurate measurements, high performance and better QoS. But faculty wireless sensor node affects the lifetime and QoS of WSNs. There are various methods to detect the faculty sensor nodes in WSNs but are not efficient due to power consumption issues. In the proposed method wireless sensor node in WSNs are optimally utilized in fault detection because of measurement of round trip delay time of specific RTD paths. This reduces the energy consumed by wireless sensor node thereby improving efficiency of fault detection. The RTD protocol implemented in NS2 helps to simulate the required WSNs to measure the round trip delay times of various RTD paths. Then these measurements are analyzed to locate and identify the failed as well as malfunctioning sensor node. Proposed method is successfully implemented and verified for circular topology WSNs with various numbers of wireless sensor nodes.
