7. ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION: Title: Aerodynamically Designed Variable Trailing Edge Serrations for Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Blades The aerodynamically designed variable trailing edge serrations for Vertical axis wind turbines is developed to improve aerodynamics and acoustics of vertical axis wind turbine. From top to bottom of the blade along the length, on the trailing edge, Three different geometric serrations are introduced, first one from 0 - 20%, Second from 20% to 80% and last one from 80% to 100% along the length. Each serrations length and depth varies in dimensions. The central serrations are uniformly pitched while the top and bottom serrations are closely pitched. This variable serrations works by smoothly translating the wing tip pressure difference and creates low strength tip noises. This in turn improves the performance of the turbine.
