The present invention relates to a feathered vvinglet to improve aerodynamics of Vertical axis wind turbine. Three symmetric airfoil based feathered airfoils are introduced at the tip of the vertical axis wind turbine blades along the chord at different dihedral angles. This type of feathered winglet improve lift by improve the wing span-loading, position the tip vortex further outboard, and/or introduce a non-planar trailing vortex sheet, since one or a combination of these effects results in a beneficial change to the downwash and hence a reduction in the induced drag. Feather winglets works by suppressing tip vortex and three dimensional flows. Introducing such winglets in Vertical axis wind turbine improves lifting characteristics of VAWT blades by improving blade loading. The differential lift increases which in turn increase torque characteristics of turbine.
