INSECTICIDE COMPOSITION FROM ANNONA SQUAMOSA SEED EXTRACT

The current invention reveals insecticidal activity of three formulations derived from acetone soluble fraction of the ethanol extract from seeds of Annona squamosa, containing Iso octyl phthalate as the main component A liquid and a powder bait formulations have been proved as effective toxins to house flies on oral application. Another liquid spray formulation derived from the same active ingredient has been proved as effective contact poison to egg, larval and adult mosquitoes. Further the same formulation has been confirmed to induce ovipositional deterrence in female mosquitoes. Apart from these, the formulation acts as a sterilent to mosquitoes on prolonged exposure to sub lethal concentration of the same during their development. Modes of application of the formulations on house flies, mosquitoes and developing stages of mosquitoes has also been provided. [IN-CHE-2008-03217A]
