The global crop productivity has suffered from attack of several pests of which homopteran insects cause a major damage to rice, mustard, tobacco, cotton and chickpea. The present invention attempts to protect the crop loss by affecting the target pests, mustard aphid and red cotton bug with the help of mannose binding insecticidal lectins from seeds of Annona squamosa.
