The invention relates to the field of metal protection from corrosion in water and can be used to inhibit corrosion in closed systems of steel pipelines.Use of the coordinative compound of cobalt with a hydrazine derivative - tris(thiosemicarbazide)cobalt(III) trihydrate chloride of formula [Co(thios)3]Cl3·3H2O, where thios is thiosemicarbazide (H2N-C(= S)-NH-NH2) is proposed as an inhibitor of steel corrosion in water, at a concentration of 0.05…0.75 g/L.The technical result of the proposed solution is a significant reduction, in comparison with the use of thiosemicarbazide, of corrosion losses and an increase in the service life of steel pipelines.
