A METHOD OF PRODUCING PARQUET FROM COCONUT PETIOLE AND A PRODUCT THEREFROM

A process of producing parquet from coconut petiole comprising the steps of preparing of the materials such as coconut petiole as the main components, styrene unsaturated polyester resin, mixture of Borax and Boric acid for treatment and preservation of strip petiole, and surface matting laminates for lamination; preparing the mixture of coconut petioles with a mixture of borax and boric acid and water to prevent decay; cooking of the mixture under a temperature of not more than 100oC for about 45 minutes and applied by brushing onto the strips; kiln-drying of the coconut petioles using a furnace-type lumber dryer; cutting and trimming of the coconut petiole into strips with dimensions of 300mm long, 30mm wide, and 5mm thick; cutting and trimming of coconut petiole strips with dimensions of 90mm long, 30mm wide and 5mm thick for the cross-ply arrangement of the parquet; laying of the first layer of parquet with the coconut petiole strips with dimensions of 300mm x 30mm x 15 mm; pouring of the styrene unsaturated polyester resin for the second layer that measures 300mm x 90mm x 15mm; laying of the third layer of parquet with strips same as the first layer; compressing of the resin and the coconut petiole strips for a sturdier and fully dried bind; sanding of the parquet to level the wood surface and to remove undesirable marks; binding of the coconut petiole parquet and the laminates using styrene unsaturated polyester resin; laying of cellophane onto the laminates to protect them from being damaged and; removing the cellophane when the polyester has hardened to achieve smoother surface.
