METHOD IMPLEMENTED BY COMPUTER TO OBTAIN FIBER GUIDELINES WITHIN COMPOSITE MATERIALS USING EXPLORATION BY COMPUTERIZED TOMOGRAPHY

A method implemented by computer to obtain the orientations of fibers within composite materials using computed tomography scanning, which comprises: # - obtaining tomography scanning images of different cross sections of the composite material; # - converting said images into a set of points, each pixel representing a pixel of the image with a gray scale value and 3D coordinates; # - extract the pixels corresponding to the fiber material by using a threshold gray scale value; # - group the pixels of the fiber material corresponding to the same cross section in individual fibers according to criteria of distance between pixels; # - gather the individual fibers located in different cross sections and corresponding to the same unit fiber by estimating the centroid position of each individual fiber in a cross section immediate; # - get the interpolation line n of each pixel cloud belonging to a unit fiber and, from said interpolation line, obtain the orientation of each unit fiber.
