Two fiber bundles are compressed in a spinning machine and a suction body. The suction body is used for a fiber compressing device which is located behind a drafting mechanism of the spinning machine and works in a pneumatic mode. The fiber bundles are conveyed along the suction body in a fiber conveying direction and are spun to single yarns after the compressing device. The suction body comprises first and second suction slits. Each suction slit has at least one fiber guiding edge. Respective fiber bundles are compressed on the fiber guiding edges. The two fiber guiding edges gather mutually so that the two fiber bundles can be connected. The two suction slits are space from each other. The fiber guiding edges of the first suction slit end at the fiber guiding edges of the second suction slit in the preset fiber conveying direction and extension lines of the fiber guiding edges of the second suction slit intersect with the fiber guiding edges of the first suction slit at an intersecting point (KP).
