An adeno-associated virus (AAV) comprising at least one AAV capsid comprising amino acids 1 to 734 of SEQ ID NO: 186 (AAVhu.53) or SEQ ID NO: 187 (hu.55) or SEQ ID NO: 188 (hu.54), wherein the AAV additionally comprises a minigen that has inverted terminal AAV repeats and a heterologous gene operably linked to regulatory sequences that direct its expression in a host cell.
