Treatment of mitochondrial neurogastrointestinal encephalomyopathy (MNGIE)

Autologous erythrocyte composition in which erythrocytes are obtained from a patient, erythrocytes that contain thymidine phosphorylase and that are free from bovine serum albumin (BSA), where autologous erythrocytes are obtained by loading the erythrocytes with a composition comprising less of 200 EU endotoxin per mg thymidine phosphorylase, for use in the treatment of mitochondrial neurogastrointestinal encephalomyopathy (MNGIE) in the patient.
