A polymer composition, comprising: a) a base polymer; and b) from about 0.1% to about 10% by weight of a compound having the formula: ** Formula ** in which R1 to R8 are each independently selected from: i) C1-C12 linear, branched or substituted or unsubstituted cyclic; ii) linear, branched or cyclic substituted or unsubstituted C2-C12 alkenyl; iii) C2-C12 linear or branched substituted or unsubstituted alkynyl; iv) substituted or unsubstituted C6 or C10 aryl; v) - [C (R10a) (R10b)] and OR11; wherein R11 is selected from: a) -H; b) substituted or unsubstituted linear, branched or cyclic C1-C12 alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted linear, branched or cyclic haloalkyl; c) C6 or C10 substituted or unsubstituted aryl or C7-C20 alkylenyl; vi) - [C (R10a) (R10b)] and N (R12a) (R12b); wherein R12a and R12b are each independently selected from: a) -H; b) -OR13; R13 is hydrogen or linear C1-C4 alkyl; c) C1-C12 linear, branched or substituted or unsubstituted cyclic alkyl; d) substituted or unsubstituted C6 or C10 aryl; vii) - [C (R10a) (R11b)] and C (O) R14; wherein R14 is selected from: a) substituted or unsubstituted linear, branched or cyclic C1-C12 alkyl; b) -OR15; wherein R15 is hydrogen, substituted or unsubstituted linear C1-C4 alkyl, or substituted or unsubstituted C6 or C10 aryl and c) -N (R16a) (R16b); wherein R16a and R16b are each independently hydrogen, substituted or unsubstituted linear, branched or cyclic C1-C12 alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted C6 or C10 aryl; viii) - [C (R10a) (R10b)] and OC (O) R17; wherein R17 is selected from: a) substituted or unsubstituted linear, branched or cyclic C1-C12 alkyl; and b) -N (R18a) (R18b); R18a and R18b are each independently hydrogen, substituted or unsubstituted linear, branched or cyclic C1-C12 alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted C6 or C10 aryl; ix) - [C (R10a) (R10b)] and NR19C (O) R20; wherein R19 is selected from: a) -H; and b) substituted or unsubstituted linear, branched or cyclic C1-C4 alkyl; wherein R20 is selected from: a) substituted or unsubstituted linear, branched or cyclic C1-C12 alkyl; b) -N (R21a) (R21b); R21a and R21b are each independently hydrogen, substituted or unsubstituted linear, branched or cyclic C1-C12 alkyl or substituted or unsubstituted C6 or C10 aryl; x) - [C (R10a) (R10b)] and CN; xi) - [C (R10a) (R10b)] and NO2; xii) - [C (R10a) (R10b)] and SO2R22; R22 is hydrogen, hydroxyl, substituted or unsubstituted straight or branched C1-C4 alkyl; C6, C10, or C14 substituted or unsubstituted aryl; C7-C15 alkylenyl; substituted or unsubstituted C1-C9 heterocyclic; or substituted or unsubstituted C1-C11 heteroaryl; and xiii) halogen; xiv) - [C (R10a) (R10b)] and (CHj'Xk ') hCHjXk; where X is halogen, index j is an integer from 0 to 2, index k is an integer from 1 to 3, j + k = 3; index j 'is an integer from 0 to 2, index k' is an integer from 0 to 2, j '+ k' = 2; the h index is from 0 to 5; R10a and R10b are each independently hydrogen or C1-C4 alkyl; and the index y is from 0 to 5; R1 and R8 can be taken together to form a 6-membered ring containing 4 to 6 carbon atoms and 0 to 2 heteroatoms selected from oxygen, sulfur, or nitrogen, in which one or more of the carbon atoms can be substituted or unsubstituted or be a carbonyl unit. and wherein R2 to R7 are each hydrogen.
