Procedure for determining whether a subject has a reduced intestinal bacterial Diversity,Said method comprising: (a) to detect microbial DNA from a sample of bowel that has been obtained from this subject if all of the 50 sec id no. of at least one speciBacterial and as defined in Table 1 are absent in the sample; and (b) determine that the subject has a reduced intestinal bacterial Diversity,If the entire 50 sec id no. of said at least one bacterial species as defined in Table 1 are absent in this sample.
