The present application describes a method of assembling at least two pieces (21, 22) of silicon carbide materials by non-reactive soldering, wherein the parts are brought into contact with a solder composition (26). non-reactive, the assembly formed by the parts (21, 22) and the solder composition (26) is heated to a brazing temperature sufficient to completely or at least partially melt the solder composition (26), and cools the pieces (21, 22) and the solder composition (26) to form after solidification thereof an intermediate refractory refractory; wherein the nonreactive solder composition (26) is an alloy comprising, in atomic percentages, 45% to 65% silicon, 28% to 45% nickel, and 5% to 15% aluminum. A solder composition as defined above, a solder paste, suspension comprising a powder of said solder composition and an organic binder are also disclosed.
