Pharmaceutical composition for oral administration comprises at least onephosphodiesterase inhibitor and at least one sugar alcohol selected frommannitol, sorbitol,xylitol, maltitol, lactitol, erythritol, threitol and Isomalt, and sodiumhydrogen carbonate aspharmaceutical excipients in the following weight proportions:phosphodiesterase inhibitor:about 10 to about 150 parts by weight in total; sugar alcohol: about 50 toabout 600 parts byweight in total; and sodium hydrogen carbonate: about 2 to about 100 parts byweight. Theabove composition for use in a method of treating male erectile dysfunctionwith anaccelerated onset of action is also disclosed.
